Talking in the third person can help you regulate stress, think rationally, get greater control of your thoughts and feelings, especially during tough times.

As per the research conducted by Ethan Kross of the University of Michigan, speaking in the third person helps in distancing yourself from the surroundings and provides a more objective view.

I started practicing that. At the gym you can hear me talk to myself, “Come on, you can lift more than this”.
