An experiment conducted at the New York University demonstrated that a robotic fish could persuade other fish to follow it.

Maurizio Porfiri and Stefano Marras developed a “biomimetic fish” and kept it with a school of golden shiners. The living fishes started to follow the robot once it started to move.

In future, this research may help in helping groups of wild fish from polluted waters.
