Quinstreet has spent more than $100 million purchasing insurance themed domain names. The top three are CarInsurance.com, Insurance.com and Insure.com for $49.7 M, $35.6 M and $16 M, respectively.
All the domain names are based on generic words/phrases which belong to the highly competitive insurance industry. Quinstreet banks on the fact that many surfers simply type in a generic word/phrase suffixed with a dot-com. The company is probably making a lot of money via direct selling and/or referrals.
