The Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) are NOT the same.
The WWW is simply a part of the Internet. Email, usenet, etc. are all subsets of the Internet and not covered in the WWW.
Another way to look at it is that the Internet is a network of computers while the WWW is a network of web pages.
