Before Apple released Safari, all Mac computers came with Internet Explorer as the default web browser. In fact, iMac G3 users could change Internet Explorer interface color to match that of their machines.
Apple’s five year contract with Microsoft helped Internet Explorer capture 95% of the web browser market share.
By the way, there were other browsers for the Mac system too; for example, Cyberdog. But Internet Explorer was pretty good those days. The development and support for the Mac version of Internet Explorer was stopped on 31 December, 2005.
