He came to life after being hanged for 20 minutes!

Fact - 17-year old William Duell, convicted of raping Sarah Griffin, was sentenced death. He was hanged on November 24, 1740. His body hung for 20 minutes before it was cut down. He came back to life later that day and his sentence was changed to exile for life.

17-year old William Duell, convicted of raping Sarah Griffin, was sentenced death. He was hanged on November 24, 1740. His body hung for 20 minutes before it was cut down. He came back to life later that day and his sentence was changed to exile for life.

Duell’s apparent lifeless body started to show signs of breathing when it was laid on the surgeon’s dissection table. Though he was delirious and suffered from fever in the night, he was perfectly healthy the next day and had no recollection of the hanging.
