Fact - Guinea pigs are not from Guinea. They come from South America and were domesticated by the Incas about 3,000 years ago. The species no longer exists in the wild.

Guinea pigs (Cavia Porcellus) are not from Guinea. They were originally native to South America.

Guinea pigs were domesticated by the Incas about 3,000 years ago who bred them as pets. The species no longer exists in the wild.
