First use of a National Flag

Fact - First national flag which is still in use is Denmark's Dannebrog. It was used on 15 June 1219 at the Battle of Lyndanisse.

The very first use of a national flag which is still in use today was at the Battle of Lyndanisse by the Dutch army led by King Valdemar II of Denmark. Valdemar II defeated the Estonians to establish the territory of Danish Estonia.

The battle marks, as per legend, the use of Dannebrog the national flag which is still used today. The date was 15th June 1219.
